Tips of the Trade
Binchotan works great with any type of grill but works especially well with the type of tabletop of grills offered on our website (found here) as well as robata style sand pits. The charcoal can burn for 3-5 hours, much longer than regular charcoal, and can be reused if the fire is extinguished naturally using a fire extinguishing pot or similar device. Lighting binchotan is best done in a charcoal chimney over open flames (such as a those from wok burner or very hot gas barbeque), although it can also be ignited on top of already lit regular charcoal as well. Using synthetic fire starter is not recommended as it can add unpleasant flavors to the charcoal.
