Sour plum and Shiso (purple perilla leaves) condiment from Japan. Good to use on rice and on vegetables. Sour plum (ume) taste is made from pickled and pureed sour plums. It has an appealing sour and salty flavor. Traditionally served with rice to eat at breakfast or lunch in Japan. Also used in preparing sushi. Spread it on cucumber slices or lightly brush it on cooked corn on the cob as a snack. It can be added to a coleslaw dressing and used for broccoli, lettuce, and kale.
